The first episode of the special edited version of the One Piece anime has been delayed. The episode was originally set to air on October 27, 2024, and it will instead debut a week later on November 3.

The reason for the special edited One Piece anime episode delay is due to the conflicting schedules of the original release date of the anime episode and the MLB World Series both coinciding on October 27, 2024. Toei Animation announced back in October 12, 2024 that the Fish-Man Island arc of the One Piece anime series would receive a special edited version. The objective of this re-release is to touch up some of the scenes in the anime to increase the visuals and animation quality using the latest technology.

While the Fish-Man Island arc of the One Piece anime is being slightly updated, this is not to be confused with The One Piece anime remake announced by Netflix back in December 2023. While we know when the special edited version of the current One Piece anime will air, The One Piece anime remake is currently in production without a release date announced.

The One Piece anime is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix and the manga is handled by Viz Media outside Japan. Meanwhile, the live-action One Piece adaptation is available on Netflix.

Nippon Ichi Software announced that the Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero sequel will add Castile and Walnut as DLC characters. The two are returning from the original game. The company also revealed that other characters from a variety of Nippon Ichi Software titles will be joining the game as DLC. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

More details about Castile and Walnut as DLC characters in the Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero sequel will appear in the future, as well as more information on other DLC characters for the game. Castile is a14-year-old girl and Phantom Brave protagonist Marona's best friend. In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, Castile seems to have recovered from her illness and is no longer wheelchair bound.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is a brand-new sequel to the original PlayStation 2 title released in 2004. The sequel was revealed during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct. NIS America recently announced that the original Phantom Brave game will receive a remastered version for the PlayStation 5 due out on November 7, 2024. A limited edition for Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero was also revealed during TGS 2024.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero will come out on January 30, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Square Enix revealed the goods available as part of the new FFVII Ever Crisis online kuji lottery for the 1st anniversary of the release of the game. The merchandise items feature the major playable characters in the game, and the lottery is available until October 20, 2024 from the Square Enix online e-store.

Each entry for the online lottery costs 770 yen (or about $5.15.) The first A rank prize is a visual board featuring the characters from the game, drawn by FFVII Ever Crisis character designer Risa Fujise. The art features Cloud, Tifa, Zack, Vincent, and young Sephiroth. Meanwhile, prize B acrylic character stands featuring Cloud, Barret, Zack, Glenn, Matt, young Sephiroth, and Vincent. Similarly, prize C is one of the acrylic character stands in the second volume, including Tifa, Aerith, Lucia, Yuffie, Red XIII, and Cait Sith.

For prize D there are acrylic keychains featuring FFVII Ever Crisis in-game home screens of characters wearing seasonal and event costumes, featuring Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII, Yuffie, Zack, Glenn, Matt, Lucia, and young Sephiroth. Finally, prize E includes metallic pin badges of the same characters as in the previous prize with different costumes. Toei shared some of the new character designs and key artwork for the upcoming Digimon Adventure promotional video (PV). The video is being created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original anime series.

The name of the upcoming music video is Digimon Adventure: Beyond, and it will feature the song “brave heart” from the original anime series alongside new animation. The new character art shows protagonist Taichi and Yamato as grownups, with the key art showing the same two characters. The art shows both characters in early development black and white colors.

Additionally, Toei shared that the new Digimon Adventure: Beyond PV will include other characters from the anime series. Anime Director Hiroyuki Kakudo will be in charge of directing the new video. Kakudo was the original director of Digimon Adventure and its Digimon Adventure 02 sequel. Digimon Adventure –Beyond– is scheduled to appear during Digimon Con 2025, which will be held in late March of the same year.

The recently released Persona series character keychain plushes are back for pre-order from the Ebten online store. Atlus originally announced the plushes back on June 21, 2024, and the collection is now back on sale. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]

Each plush costs 1,760 yen (or approximately $11,71) and they are set to release later in October 2024. The lineup consists of the main characters from Persona 3 Reload, as well as some of the main characters from Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal.

These include the protagonist from Persona 3 Reload, Aigis, Ryoji, Yukari, Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Fuuka, Koromaru, Ken, and Shinjiro, the protagonist from Persona 4 Golden, Yosuke, Chie, and Yukari, as well as Joker in his Phantom Thief outfit from Persona 5 Royal, Morgana, and Akechi.

Dwango announced that the NicoNico app is available again on the Nintendo Switch since October 17, 2024. NicoNico video and its associated services are slowly returning back to service after the application suffered a large scale cyberattack back in June 8, 2024.

Those interested in downloading and using the NicoNico app on the Nintendo Switch will need to have access to the Japanese Nintendo eShop as well as a Japanese account to download it. For users that already have the app downloaded on their systems prior to the cyberattack, they will need to update the app to Ver. 4.51 in order to be able to access its services again.

Furthermore, in an effort to strengthen security measures, NicoNico parent company Dwango announced that the NicoNico app password has been reset. Users that haven’t logged into the app after the service went back online earlier in August 5, 2024 will need to create a new password for their accounts to be able to use the service.

As a reminder, aside from a new version of the NicoNico service returning earlier in August 2024, Dwango also revealed that some of the NicoNico services would cease to exist due to a loss of data caused by the cyberattack, such as the NicoNi Community function.

The Nintendo Switch version of the NicoNico app has resumed its services from October 17, 2024.

Sega and AirAsia revealed the new Sonic the Hedgehog themed plane at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia. The ship started operations on October 16, 2024, and it features motifs and characters from the game franchise. [Thanks, PR Times!]

Sega President and COO Shuji Utsumi and AirAsia Chief Commercial Officer Paul Carroll inaugurated the new flight, accompanied by Sonic and Shadow mascots. The flight took off from Kuala Lumpur and landed in Bangkok, Thailand.

The inside of the plane was decorated with promotional images of the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations. As a special service for the flight, a Sonic's Gold Ring Cake dessert donut in the shape of the iconic rings from the video game serise was provided to passengers.

While AirAsia didn’t offer any pictures of the outside of the flight, the company shared some images of the inauguration speech as well as photos of the interior of the plane and the flights attendants, who wore Sonic and Shadow ear matching headbands.

During the October 2024 Xbox Partner Preview, Remedy announced that the Alan Wake 2 Lake House DLC release date falls on October 22, 2024. The new expansion will see players controlling FBC agent Kiran Estevez as she explores the seemingly abandoned Lake House outpost located near Bright Falls.

The new trailer for the Lake House expansion in Alan Wake 2 showed the new environment players will get to traverse, as well as new creature crawling out of a painted wall that immediately begins to fight Kiran. Additionally, the trailer showed agent Estevez using a brand-new weapon similar to a grenade launcher that she seemed to be able to charge.

The Night Springs add-on for Alan Wake 2 came out on June 8, 2024 and it offers three different scenarios featuring Alan Wake fangirl Rose, sheriff Tim Breaker, as well as Control main protagonist Jesse Faden in creative reinterpretations of previous events in the Alan Wake and Control shared world.

Alan Wake 2 is readily available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Epic Games Store, and the Lake House DLC expansion will release on October 22, 2024.

Square Enix shared a new side-by-side video comparing the graphics in the original Dragon Quest 3 release on the Famicom and the upcoming Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. The short video showcases the party entering into the Dreamer’s Tower early in the game.

In the new video comparing graphics and environments, both parties in the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake version and the original Famicom version of the game include the Hero, a female Warrior, a male Priest, and a female Mage.

Despite the size and scale of the environments in the new remake being much bigger than in the original version of Dragon Quest 3, the time it takes for characters to traverse the entrance of the Dreamer’s Tower is roughly the same. To accommodate for the larger maps, the walking speed of characters in the new remake seems to have increased.

Ahead of the release of the game, Square Enix offered new details about the brand-new Monster Wrangler vocation and the Monster Arena, as well as released new screenshots of the game.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake will come out on November 14, 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.

Sanrio released an introduction video for Adorozatorumary, the mascot character created in collaboration with Japanese singer Ado. The collaboration character originally made its debut on 2022.

Adorozatorumary is a navy blue, cat-like character with light blue eyes. She wears a black and white ribbon around her neck, has one single white fang peeking on the left side of her mouth, and a beauty mark under her right eye. Her birthday falls on March 8, and her favorite foods are candy and sushi.

Her most prized possession is the matching ribbon that she wears around her neck, which she received from singer Ado. Adorozatorumary also loves to sing and is full of curiosity. Her dream is being able to sing songs that makes everyone smile.

Cup Noodles released a new flavor of Tonkotsu Genova basil ramen noodles and the reveal post referenced one of Sephiroth’s most famous lines from FFVII Advent Children. While there seems to be no official collaboration between Square Enix and Cup Noodles this time around, the game studio playfully acknowledged the new product.

The original announcement post shows the new Genovese Basil flavor of Cup Noodles on an image with a starry background. The Japanese post translates to the following:

With its memorable basil flavor the new Tonkotsu Genova is now available for sale.

The first line of the post references Sephiroth talking to his mother Jenova, and the second one is very similar to his “Shall I give you despair?” line from FFVII Advent Children. This same line was previously referenced in an official Nissin Donbei collaboration with FFVII Rebirth ahead of the game’s February 29, 2024 release. The day after the Cup Noodle announcement post, the FFVII Remake project X (formerly Twitter) official account quoted the post with a single thinking face emoji.

The reason Cup Noodles used the famous Sephiroth lines from FFVII Advent Children as a pun in their new Tonkotsu Genova ramen lies in the Japanese pronunciation of the Italian city of Genoa or Genova, famous for its basil. In Japanese, the word for Genoa (ジェノバ) could be read as either Genova (an alternate spelling) or Jenova, the name of Sephiroth’s “mother” in Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second entry in the remake project, and it is readily available for the PlayStation 5.

In a new video celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Steins;Gate series, MAGES revealed that the visual novel sci-fi game series will continue in the future and teased a new Steins;Gate project.

The anniversary video is a bit over 3 minutes long and it showcases all of the video game titles in the Steins;Gate series, starting with the original visual novel released in 2009, and continuing with the romantic comedy spin-off Steins;Gate: My Darling's Embrace, the short story collection Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram, the 2015 sequel Steins;Gate 0, and the 2018 fully animated remake of the original, Steins;Gate Elite.

At the end of the video, an English message appears thanking players and fans for their patronage and support over the last 15 years, ending with the sentence "Steins;Gate will continue." After the message, the Japanese voice of Okabe Rintarou’s voice can be heard saying “El Psy Congroo” shortly before a mobile ringtone plays over a black screen. The video then ends after the teaser.

As a reminder, during the series 10th anniversary celebration in October 2020 MAGES announced a new title in the Science Adventure game series that would be tied to the Steins;Gate universe. The game hasn’t received any new information ever since its original announcement. Additionally, the Steins;Gate 0 Elite remake was also announced back in January 2020.

Steins;Gate celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2024, and MAGES confirmed that the video game series will continue in the future.

Bandai Spirits announced a new figure of Chun-Li from Street Fighter 2 inspired by her victory pose in the game that will release as part of a new Ichiban Kuji merchandise lottery. The release date for the figure and other items in the lottery lineup is set for February 25, 2024.

The new Street Fighter 2 Ichiban Kuji lottery is now available in Japan and each entry costs 880 yen (or about $5.89.) Aside from the Chun-Li victory pose figure as the main A prize, the full line-up for the new SF2 Ichiban Kuji lottery includes an acrylic stand set as the B price, a big towel as prize C, a sound voice collection CD as prize D, a rubber coaster as prize E, an acrylic charm collectable for prize F, and an acrylic stand collectable as Prize G.

Namco Bandai announced that the Gundam Metaverse Live Hatsune Miku collaboration event will be held during the next Gundam Metaverse project, which is scheduled to appear between December 4-8, 2024. The live performance is set to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Gundam series.

The live event will feature the popular Vocaloid and virtual idol Hatsune Miku performing alongside a Gundam mobile suit. More details about the live performance will be revealed at a later date. Additionally, a pre-registration campaign is underway, during which people can win various prizes including Gunpla, keychains, t-shirts, and hats. The performance will be part of the Gundam Metaverse 3rd Project. Pre-registrations for the third Gundam Metaverse project are now open until the end of December 4, 2024 from the project’s official website.

Originally teased in February 2022 and later revealed in March of the same year, the Gundam Metaverse project received its first limited-time opening in October 2023, although it was subject to a series of CAD files leaks. Meanwhile, the second limited-time opening was successfully held in 2 blocks throughout March 2024.

The Hatsune Miku live performance in collaboration with the Gundam Metaverse 3rd Project limited-time opening will be held sometime between December 4-8, 2024.

Good Smile Company announced a new model kit of Thanatos from Persona 3 Reload. The new model kit is part of the Plamatea series of articulated plastic models and belongs to the Good Mecha Smile brand.

As of right now, Good Smile Company has only shown an unpainted grey prototype of the Persona 3 Reload plastic model of the Persona Thanatos. There is no announced release date nor window, and the company hasn’t given a price range either. The plastic model is holding the Persona’s signature blade and is seen supported by a transparent base.

The Persona also includes a series of thin metallic chains that connect the various coffins floating over the persona, which also seem to be supported by thin plastic parts. Additionally, another photo of the prototype was shown with the coffins and coat parts being fully articulable. New information about the plastic model will appear in the future.
